Not all affiliate programs are worth your time. The right program can turn the same traffic into meaningfully more revenue. Here’s how to evaluate a program before you promote it.
Commission structure
Higher isn’t always better — a 50% commission on a $20 product earns less than 20% on a $500 one. Weigh the rate against the price point and the conversion rate. And always favor recurring commissions where they exist; they compound into real monthly income.
Cookie window
The cookie window is how long after a click you still get credit for a sale. 30 days is standard; 90+ days is excellent. Short windows (24 hours) mean you only get paid for near-instant buyers.
Product quality & fit
Never promote something you wouldn’t recommend to a friend. Your credibility is the asset. Promote products that genuinely fit your audience, and your conversion rate — and reputation — will both stay high.
